Advanced Intensive Independent Study Projects

These are the projects that you need to complete before coming to the Advanced Intensive:

1. Journal. You are asked to keep a journal of their Playback activities for 4-6 weeks. This can include rehearsals, shows (performing or watching), workshops, personal reflections, readings, emerging questions, or other related experiences. Please send your journal to the Centre at least three weeks prior to the Advanced Intensive.

Your journals will allow the instructors to make plans with students' experiences in mind. We may invite you to share aspects of it with the other students, but in general your journal will be read only by the instructors. Please write between 5 and 10 pages total.

2. Community portrait. Please come ready to present a 10 minute portrait of your society (country, city, neighborhood). You can just talk about it and/or bring some visual elements to show. We would like you to consider geography, history, economy, demography (population groups), and sociopolitical issues, as well as any other aspect that captures your interest. Students will present their community portrait in class. The challenge will be just to say the essence. One purpose is to increase our awareness of each other's contexts, especially since we come from very different countries and backgrounds.
