Playback theatre training in Angola and Burundi (2001-3)

In May of 2001, Bev Hosking, a core faculty member of the Centre, taught in Angola, and in October, Jonathan Fox, director of the Centre, introduced playback methods in Burundi as part of a program funded by Search for Common Ground. In March of 2003, Karin Gisler of Playback-Theater Zurich joined Jonathan for a further training mission in Burundi. They worked with the Hutu and Tutsi members of the Tubiyage Theatre Association, founded and directed by Michel Ange Nzogibwami. The objective of these initiatives is to equip local theatre performers to use playback theatre as a tool for reconciliation and rebuilding civil society following protracted conflict.
